Welcome to Telstra Code Reader, the quick and easy shortcut to mobile content.

Mobile Codes are designed to save time and effort. By scanning a code, you can connect to a web site without typing the address, send a pre-written SMS, save contact details to your address book, dial a number or view messages.

Note: Standard mobile charges apply for calls, sending text messages and mobile internet browsing. To find out more about mobile internet browse packs, please call Telstra on 125-111

The Telstra Code Reader reads the two most widely used Mobile Codes standards - Quick Response and Data Matrix - and decodes different kinds of data from them:

- Web link (Scan to connect)
Decodes a web link (URL) and connects you to the internet with your mobile browser

- Send SMS (Scan to preview and send)
Compose a pre-written SMS from a Mobile Code, and gives you the ability to preview and send SMS messages.

- Save contact or dial a number
Decodes contact information from a Mobile Code to add contact information to mobile address book or dial a number.

- Encoded message
Presents on-screen message or information contained in the Mobile Code.

How to use the Telstra Code Reader
1. Activate the Telstra Code Reader.
2. Point the camera at the Mobile Code (ensure the entire code fills 80% of screen) and press the Centre directional key to scan.
3. Connect to a linked web site, send an SMS, dial number, save contact or view a message.

Detection:
After a Mobile Code is scanned, the Telstra Code Reader will attempt to decode the Mobile Code, and display the results on your phone.

Results:
When a Mobile Code is successfully detected (or its ID number is typed in), depending on the information stored in the Mobile Code you will be connected to the internet, have the ability to send an SMS, dial the included phone number, save embedded contact details to your address book or view a message on your phone.

Tip: Mobile Code size should be at least 2 cm. The camera should be at least 10 cm from the Mobile Code to avoid focus problems. For optimal results, please make sure that the Mobile Code is shown as big as possible, while the picture is still clear and focused.

If the camera is on for too long without taking a picture, the camera will be automatically paused to conserve battery life until you resume.

Type:
Coming soon: In poor lighting conditions, or if a Mobile Code has been distorted or damaged during printing, it may still be possible to use the Mobile Code, if an optional ID number is included (sometimes printed near the code). If present this ID number can be typed into the Telstra Code Reader using the Type option in Menu. By typing in the number, the result is the same as scanning the code: Telstra Code Reader decodes the contents of the Mobile Code, and connects the user to content on the mobile internet, or presents contact details or information on the handset's screen.

Update:
Selecting this option will connect you to the free Telstra Code Reader download site, to automatically check for updated versions of the Telstra Code Reader for your mobile phone.
