ABOUT THE EXPERTS

Bill Finan

I'm a sophomore at the University of Rochester, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and also studying music and physics. I play the cello, but am learning the carillon (bell tower); I am also an active member of the outdoors and urban exploring clubs, besides playing quiz bowl. I have been to the 48 continental United States, and plan on going to Alaska and Hawaii after college--if I can ever afford it, my dream trip would be to Europe and/or Australia.

Bill was a member of the 2008 National College Bowl Champion Team from the University of Rochester.

Jeff Gross

Jeff is the only person to have been both a Millionaire contestant in the US and the UK, winning $500,000 from Meredith Vieira and 64,000 pounds from Chris Tarrant. He has an MBA from the London Business School and a mathematics and computer science degree from UCLA. He lived in the UK for 7 years and has travelled around the world. Jeff has always been into technology, and has worked in business consulting, finance and management. He stays on top of current events, loves surfing the Web and enjoys learning new things. Jeff was the kid who watched game shows when he was home sick from school, always wanting to match wits with the contestants. He loves casino and card games, and is a poker fanatic. He also enjoys studying French, developing software, watching ice hockey, observing the media and eating things containing chocolate.

Eric Keihl

Eric Keihl is an English and Creative Writing Major at the University of Rochester who has been playing trivia competitively since the 8th grade. He is an aspiring writer, and claims to own every Frank Zappa album ever released (over 100 albums). His strengths are history, computers, medieval and renaissance literature, pop culture, video games, 60's and 70's music, sports and movies. His weaknesses are natural sciences, mathematics and geography.

Eric was a member of the 2008 National College Bowl Champion Team from the University of Rochester.

Pat Kiernan

Pat Kiernan has been the host of several game shows, including World Series of Pop Culture on VH1 in 2006 and 2007. Born in Canada, he moved to New York in 1996 and became the morning news anchor for New York 1.

Pat's a great guy to turn to on questions about events in the news, business and technology. He's the wrong guy to ask if you're stuck on a question about literature, sports or history of US presidents.

Laura Nemeth

I'm currently a junior at the University of Rochester and majoring in biochemistry and German. I would say perhaps my biggest strength is scientific trivia. I also took Latin in high school, and I like learning foreign languages. I'm a vegetarian, and I love to cook and learn about new foods. I'm not very familiar with most popular culture or sports trivia, with the exception of Disney movies and country music. I enjoy running, hiking, and swimming. My favorite books are The Phantom of the Opera (also my favorite musical) and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, my favorite movie is Beauty and the Beast and my favorite singer is Josh Groban.

Laura was a member of the 2008 National College Bowl Champion Team from the University of Rochester.

Ogi Ogas

Ogi has a PhD in Computational Neuroscience from Boston University, where he studied human memory. He's pretty solid in science, literature, history, and the arts, but he's gosh darn awful at pop culture, especially television (he doesn't have TV!). But movies aren't too bad. He lives with his wife Polina in a condominium in downtown Boston that he bought with his winnings from Millionaire.

Ben Seitelman

My interests include film, music, reading, trivia (obviously), history, and politics. I am a history and political science major.

Ben was a member of the 2008 National College Bowl Champion Team from the University of Rochester.

Thomas Spencer

Tom Spencer, 47 years old. Grew up in Columbus, Ohio. Have lived here all my life except for 4 years in N.Y.C. trying to make it as a musician. Could never overcome stagefright. Was a Philosophy and Psychology student at Ohio State here in Columbus. Have been a paralegal for 12 years. Got interested in the law after serving as a juror in a murder trial in which we acquitted.

My strengths are the 60's and 70's history, Classic Rock from the 60's and 70's, also the folk music scene of the 60's. I'm a pretty good all around expert/phone a friend. I should do well at geography, world religions, social sciences, movies, and news items. I'm not as good at higher mathematics, natural and physical sciences, and especially not Shakespeare.

Joel Stein

Joel Stein is a columnist for the Los Angeles Times and a regular contributor to TIME. After attending Stanford Stein began his career as a writer and researcher for Martha Stewart Living. He went on to be a columinist for Time Out New York.

Stein joined TIME in August 1997 gaining notice for his arch celebrity Q&A's and for his anectodal humor columns. He can sometimes
be seen as talking head on television programs such as I Love the '80's. He has also co-produced three TV pilots and was a writer/producer for the sitcom "Crumbs".

Stein lives in Los Angeles with his wife Cassandra Barry.
